Lapstrake dinghy plans (pub. by wooden boat) just out. beg-meil is a big, little boat. a dinghy hull with real sailboat feel. or at least 35 years ago. in the past there were a lot of lapstrake boats there as most of the more inexpensive local building were clinker built. dukes, gravette and ditchburn all built lapstrake boats. going. Clinker built (also known as lapstrake) is a method of boat building where the edges of hull planks overlap each other. where necessary in larger craft shorter planks can be joined end to end into a longer strake or hull plank.. I own a lapstrake norlandsboat (my avatar), and i have a growing interest of someday building a lapstrake design. it is time to start thinking about next build (this hobby is addictive) there is a lot of glued lapstrake designs, but i struggle to find traditional lapstrake designs exept that gartside has a lot..
